Who is Wanda, host-mother to Penelope?
Josephine Terrien: Hi Wanda, thank you for welcoming us and agreeing to answer our questions.
Wanda Griffith: Hi Josephine, welcome!
JT: Let’s get started! Could you introduce yourself first?
WG: Hello 😁I am Wanda Griffith and I work at Mount Gay Distillery Limited in Barbados. A division of the Rémy-Cointreau group of companies. We met Penelope’s family on World is a Village and hosted Penelope for two weeks.
It was a great opportunity to expose a child from France to the Barbadian culture.
JT: How did you hear about World is a Village?
WG: I heard about World is a Village by receiving an email from HR introducing the company and the concept to all employees. From that point on it was an obvious choice to use this platform to find a child to host.
Why did Wanda choose to host?
JT: Why did you decide to host before sending your own child abroad?
WG: It was a great opportunity to expose a child from France to the Barbadian culture. Penelope even went to school with my son to help their french teacher give lessons. So it was as much showing her our culture, as her sharing a piece of France with us! We went swimming with the turtles and spend a day on a catamaran!
